When it comes to your personal safety, sometimes the most basic tool can be invaluable. First, it is important that you understand that you are the one in control of your personal protection. Yes, there is always the police, but more times than not they are not around when you need them. This is why it is up to you to make sure that you are carrying some type of personal security alarm.

Personal Security Alarms are an effective yet inexpensive personal safety tool. When activated there 120db or more alarm will alert everyone in the area. This alone is generally enough to defer an attacker, the last thing they want is attention. Then, once you are to a safe location, you can call the police to file the report. Hopefully they will be able to catch the attacker but at least you are safe and sound. Now that you can see the importance of having a personal alarm, you will need to look into the various kinds that are out there so that you can find the one that is perfect for you and your needs.

One of my favorite personal security alarms is the Keychain Alarm w/Light. This handy little 130db alarm is goes right on your keychain and has abuilt in LED light that will help you find those evasive keyholes on a dark night.

Another really popular personal security alarm is the Electronic Whistle. The wonderful thing about this whistle is that you do not even have to blow it. It is electronic and it can be carried in your pocket or used as a key chain. The Electronic Whistle is four inches long and emits a 120-db whistle for however long you hold the button in for. This whistle is not only great for avoiding personal attacks but for use as a locator in emergencies such as earthquakes.

The Door Stop Alarm is another favorite of many people. Simply place it in front of your door and the Door Stop Alarm will prevent the door from being opened while setting off a 120-db alarm. The alarm will automatically shut off when the pressure from the door is removed. It can also works as a nice door jam. Place one on the floor for your bedroom door or your front door and you will finally be able and ready to sleep soundly at night.

The Screecher Aerosol Alarm sounds off an ear piercing sound that can be heard up to ¼ mile away. This is a small enough size that it can easily be placed into a purse or kept in a pocket. To activate the alarm you simply have to push down on the top. Each alarm will contain about thirty short alarm blasts.

When it comes to personal safety you just can never be too safe. This is way there are so many products out there for you to pick from. Grab one or grab several different kinds of personal alarms and you will know that you will be able to sound an alarm for help if you are ever in danger of being attacked or from being lost. And if you feel you need a little added protection, pepper spray is always a good choice.

Free Codec For Mini Spy Pen

There have been several people, myself included, that have had trouble with the Storm Video Player that comes with both the Mini Spy Pen and the Gum Stick Recorders. Here is a link where you can download a FREE Codec that will enable you to play the videos with Windows Media Player. I installed it myself about a month ago and have had no problems. I hope it is helpful.

Be sure to uninstall the Storm Player software. There will be a conflict between it and Media Player.

Happy Memorial Day

I just wanted to take a minute today to wish you all a happy and safe Memorial Day. It has been a very relaxing three days for Tina and I. My sister Wendy drove up from Houston to spend the weekend which was really a treat. We don’t get to see each other often so these times are really special. We fired up the grill yesterday for burgers and dogs then spent the evening telling stories around a small camp fire in the back yard. One of the advantages of living in small town America. She’ll be on the road in a couple of hours, back to the hustle and bustle of the big city. Better her than me.
Anyway, I hope you all take a minute today to remember the men and women of our armed forces, the sacrifices that they have made and continue to make daily to ensure our way of life. Here is a link to a video that really moved me. It pretty much sums up my feelings today in a nutshell. Please pass it on to anyone you know who has or is now serving our great nation. It is only about 60 seconds long and well worth watching.

Memorial Day Safety

Well here it is Memorial Day weekend, and for most of us the first big summer get together. Millions of people all headed out for a three day weekend at the park, beach, lake, or maybe just a backyard BBQ. Time to get away and shed those wintertime blues with friends and family. Unfortunately for many it will turn into a weekend of tragedy. Traffic and boating accidents this weekend seem to set new records every year. So please, don’t become a statistic. Take a moment and think about safety. Your loved ones need you. Have a great time but remember , drinking and boating is just as deadly as drinking and driving. Life preservers and seat belts WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE, so buckle up! Here are a few more simple tips to keep in mind.

BOAT SAFETY AND SECURITY:
Thieves are always on the lookout for easy targets. Don’t make yourself a victim. Always follow these simple steps.
· Never leave anything valuable on display, however small and insignificant it may seem. Thieves steal first and think about value later.
· Don’t leave anything lose in the cockpit or on deck
· Don’t leave the key in the ignition. Always take it with you
· Keep your boat keys separate from your engine keys
· Always keep your boat locked when no one is on board. Even for a short time
· Use strong padlocks or rim locks on all your hatches, entry points and cockpit lockers
· Constantly check and improve the security on your boat. It is a good idea to fit an alarm and have visible stickers saying one is fitted.

With all this being said, have a safe and wonderful weekend. Be sure to take a moment to remember the men and women of our armed forces who have sacrificed so much to insure our way of life. That’s what this weekend is really all about.

Autodialer by Mace. Wireless Home Security

product-pictures-379.jpgWe all know that crime is bad. In fact it has gotten worse lately. As the economy falters more and more people have turned towards a life of crime to help make ends meet. Jobs are lost and bills still have to be paid, so ordinary people have been pushed into doing unusual and extraordinary things. Some of which include burglary.

There are many companies out there that offer various types of equipment geared towards home security. The Mace Wireless Home Security System is an all in one security package That means that you can customize it to your home, mounting the base or window/door sensor where you need them to go without the need to drill; and run wires. You can simply put them up and be protected in no time. No service calls, no installer visits to schedule and not need for strangers inside your home.

Every thing that you need to do the job is packaged inside. You can install the window/door sensor anywhere within 250 feet of the keypad and there is even a remote control unit to allow you to arm and disarm the system without being at the keypad, which is very nice. For those of you that might be technically challenged, it comes with a DVD that will guide you through the whole process.

So how is this system going to help you should someone actually break a window or door or gain unwanted access to your home? Once the alarm unit is activated, the base unit will sound an alarm and it will dial up to five telephone numbers that you have programmed into it automatically and it will give the person answering a pre-recorded alert message. At that point that person can either listen to the room to hear what is going on, talk to whoever is in the room via the base unit or disarm the unit and reset it.

The motion detectors will sense any movement as well and should the intruder manage to bypass the entry alarm, the motion detector will set off the alarm. If no one answers the unit will dial the next number on the list. The only caveat here is that you need a landline telephone with touch-tone dialing for the unit to make the pre defined phone calls.

The system is totally wireless and once you purchase it, it is yours and should you move somewhere else you can take the unit with you and use it in your new locations since it is completely portable.

Now everyone these days needs to be aware of the state of the world and know that in desperate time people do desperate things and even if you live in a quite neighborhood that has not had a crime, the possibility is there and isn’t it just better to be safe than sorry, especially when it costs so little to do and it is so easy to install it? The piece of mind is invaluable, and you might even save some money off your insurance to boot.
